As an owner of a Saint Bernard, I know they Drool, EAT, shed, drool, knock you over, drool, cuddle, and drool some more (and she's a 'dry mouth').
I've learned to keep an old rag around her water 'trough', carry another old rag to wipe her mouth before she drools on me, and carry around a lint brush! And it is all worth it! I couldn't ask for a better pet.
Babies can rip her hair out and she'll lick their faces, my daughter tries to ride her and she'll just lie down. She stays right beside my daughter while she plays in the river. She is a heavy cuddler, and a great listener. So I decided I would make something cool for her! A whisky barrell collar add on!
Saint Bernards were used many years ago to find people lost in the cold snow. They carried a whisky barrell around their necks. When the dog found the cold survivor they would cuddle the dog to keep themselves warm and drink the whisky to warm their blood, until they were found.
