I used:
Patons Astra, Light 3, Color: High Energy ~Less than 50 g ball.
Round markers.
4.5 mm Crochet hook.
Needle.
Gauge:
Approximately 11sc = 3 inches.
Approximately 12 rows = 3 inches.
Round 1:
Ch 16. Sc in 2nd ch from hook(mnr), sc in ea ch across. 2 sc in last st. Now working along other side of foundation ch, sc in ea st across. (30sc).
Rounds 2-21:
Sc to join (mnr). Sc in next 5 sts, ch 3, Sc in ea sc around.(30sc+3ch)
Round 22:
Sc to join(mnr), Sc in next 6 sts, ch 3, sk first sc, sc in next sc, sc in ea st around.(30sc+3ch)
Round 23:
Sc to join(mnr), Sc in next 7 sts, ch 3, sk first sc, sc in next sc, sc in ea st around.(30sc+3ch)
Round 24:
Sc to join(mnr), Sc in next 8 sts, ch 3, sk first sc, sc in next sc, sc in ea st around.(30sc+3ch)
Round 25:
Sc to join(mnr), Sc in next 9 sts, ch 3, sk first sc, sc in next sc, sc in ea st around.(30sc+3ch)
Round 26:

Round 36:

Round 37:
Sc to join(mnr), Sc in next 21 sts, ch 3, sk first sc, sc in next sc, sc in ea st around.(30sc+3ch)
Round 38:
Sc to join(mnr), Sc in next 22 sts, ch 3, sk first sc, sc in next sc, sc in ea st around.(30sc+3ch)
Starting at bottom of bag. Using your crochet hook, pull first ch 3 through ch sp below it, from back to front. Then pull round 3 ch's from back to front through round 2's ch's. Then pull round 4's ch's from back to front through round 3's ch's, and so on. This will form the braided appearance.
Round 39:
Sc to join(mnr), Sc in ea st around, placing 1 sc in last loop of ch's(braid) to hold in place. Sk last 2 sts.
Round 40:
(mnr on last sc made)Ch 9, sk 7 more sts(for a total of 9 sts skipped). Sc in next 5 sts, ch 9, sk next 9 sts, sc in next 5 sts.
Rounds 41-42:
Sc to join(mnr). Sc in ea st around.(31sc)
Round 43:
Sc to join(mnr). Sc in ea st around. Ss to join. Fasten off.(31sc)
